My Name is Ayinalem Tsegaye, I am Manager of Reab HIV Positive women association leader in Jimma town. I want to tell you one success stories about Kume Dawid. She is a 21-year-old young woman living with HIV, which she got HIV from her mother. Her parents are not alive. She has been taking antiretroviral (ARV) medication since she was 5 years old. She learned why she was taking the medication when she was 10 years old. When she was 16, she stopped taking her medication for 4 years. Then, she was referred to the Reab Women's Association by Jimma Hospital for support. After much suffering, she returned to her medication by Reab association volunteers. Now, her health has improved, and the viral load in her blood has decreased. She is now a member of the association and says, "If your volunteers hadn't found me, I would have died," because when she returned to the medication, she was suffering from a severe opportunistic infections.
